Me and my Mac.

Ah, sometimes it is the simple things!

This week I found a mac in House of Fraser, reduced from £80 to £35. I found myself feeling very excited about this find, which surprised me, since it really is just a mac.

Before it came into my life however, I didn't have hoods on any of my clothes. And I can't help but feel a little cosy when it starts spitting outside. It's perfect when there's no room for brollies too- think the mayhem of Oxford Street on a rainy day! And of course, it's green, which I'm always attracted to- that'll be the country girl in me!

So here is the mac... for me it is nothing, and everything at once.

And it's a keeper.

Just Not 'The One'

I have a friend who loves Zara.

And rightly so, they have a great relationship.

But Zara and I, well... it's a different story. Funny, there's just no real spark between us, and never has been. I tend to arrive at the store with someone else, just because it is en route to some place I'd rather be.

But today it was intrigue, or perhaps boredom, which led me through its doors. And for the first time, I spotted something I liked as soon as I stepped in. It was a rust-coloured dress in a cute 70s cut.

Think adorable spaghetti straps, pleated gathering at the bust and waist, and a preppy knee length skirt. Yes, yes, and yes - it looked promising.

So, off I went to try it out. Perhaps things between Zara and I were on the up, perhaps we'd found a common ground... I'd already started to think about which shoes to wear with my new purchase.

Well...I knew it was low cut at the front, but it just looked, and moreover felt odd... and those spaghetti straps were far too flimsy (it's not like I'm huge in the bust department so the reason for this I don't quite  know...). The nipped in waist felt good though, the fabric was delicate and feminine, and the skirt area was perfectly floaty.

But, 'it', whatever 'it' is, was just not there.

Perhaps I brought it on myself. The weight of my expectation meant this dress didn't stand a chance.

I had found myself struck by a case of 'it looked so good on the hanger...'

So back on the rails it went... some other girl will love it, and be loved by it in return.

I guess you can't force these things. If it's not meant to be, it's not meant to be...

Congratulations to Me...from Me.

I passed my driving test last Tuesday.

First time.

But no, I'm not one of 'those' people. I passed after a long time, and many lessons...

Yes, 51 lessons, which took 2 hours each, on Saturday mornings, at 9:30, for the past year and a half. My instructor has the patience of a saint, and I have perseverance, turns out.

As for calculating how much I spent... well, why do it to myself?

Besides, it's time to celebrate, so let's forget that!

Not only do I have my Saturday mornings back (now I can say a big fat YES to invitations out on a Friday night), I can now DRIVE. Me. The one with little co-ordination and limited spatial awareness. It has already been quite a journey, let me tell you!

I've been day-dreaming about road trips. But in reality I'm just going to be looking for someone (a very trusting someone) to join me on my first trip round the block...

Anyway, my hard work paid off, and I believe in rewards. So I bought myself a little something to say, 'Hey, great job!'

And I got it just right, because I bought this:

I know, beautiful!

Yes, me and this Iris necklace have been hooking up online for a few months now, but as with many designer things it was a case of 'look but do not touch.' Thankfully, with a little help from the 60% sale at Alexander McQueen, this beauty was suddenly just within my reach- down from £285 to £114...I snapped it up without a moment's hesitation. And why not?

Boots to Get Them Talking...

Topshop, you've done it to me again.

You know I take a wander on my lunch break.  There I am. And there you are. You know I know you know there's going to be something I want from you.

You mock my banter about vintage and one-of-a-kind,  because you also know I'll always have a thing for you. I'll always come back to you when I have the need.

And even when I think I don't have the need, I somehow still find myself there, with you.

This week, it's your boots I want.

Yes, three pairs of your most delicious boots, please.
